📚 Flashcards Setup
The first thing to do is to make a set of flashcards with the question on one side and the answer on the other. The cards will be a very important part of your learning process.
📦 Organize into Boxes
All the new or hard cards should be put in Box 1. After going through and learning each card, you transfer it to higher boxes that need less review each time.
⏰ Review Schedule
A specific time is assigned to review each box. Box 1 is done daily, Box 2 is done in a few days, Box 3 is done weekly, etc. This is all the effect of spaced repetition.
✅ Correct Answers Move Forward
When you get a flashcard right, move it to the next box. That means you're well acquainted with it and it's good to go for less frequent review.
🔁 Incorrect Answers Move Back
If you mess up with a card, return it to Box 1, or lower the box number that it belongs to so it gets reviewed more often until the information is fully retained.
🧠 Principle of Spaced Repetition
The system employs the spacing effect — i.e., long-term memory retention is improved when information is reviewed at progressively longer intervals.
💡 Active Recall in Action
Asking for the answer from your brain instead of simply going through the text gives you an advantage in making the connections and grasping the concept.
🎯 Focus on Weak Areas
The strategy for maximizing efficiency is to spend more time going over the cards that you find hard and less time on the ones that you already know.
🚀 Continuous Improvement
The pathway to learning is made clearer and more motivating as time goes by with the transfer of more cards to higher boxes.
